Fewer Ads, More Money?

It seems that Google is testing a new adsense feature that will reduce the
number of text ads that appear in a block to give the user focus on the most
relevant ads.

When they tested this feature, they saw that the increased user attention to these relevant ads resulted in a higher CTR. This means more revenue for publishers.

Read more about it in the offical Adsense Blog.

Google Sandbox Exists – So Says Google

After what, 2yrs? of speculation, the Google Sandbox, the algorithm that puts some (not all) new sites in a kind of probationary period, has now been confirmed by Google.

Google Total

Google Total is more user-friendly by offering drop-down search options. If you’re at Google.com, for example, and want to do a Froogle search, you use the drop-down menu rather than have to click on the Froogle link, which takes you to a new Web page.

Track Visitors Using Google Maps – gVisit

This is just a cool little tool for anyone who owns a website. It will save the IP addresses of the last 20 visitors and put them on a map using the Google Maps interface.

It’s a free service, but if you donate some money, then it will let you track your last 100 visitors and it will get rid of the ads.

Great use of the Google Maps API.

URL Trends

Most of the coverage on UrlTrends focuses on the ability of UrlTrends to allow you to “View Any URLs Google PageRank, Alexa Rank, Popular Search Terms and Incoming Links”.

And that’s a great thing, to be able to see all of that from one place. But one great thing missed about this tool are that you can subscribe to changes to the results via RSS -hands off monitoring of your site.
