Guerilla Marketing is defined by MarketingTerms.com as: “Unconventional marketing intended to get maximum results from minimal resources.” The idea is simple: be creative and get your business out there on a very low or non existent budget.
There are a wide variety of guerilla marketing strategies out there just search the forums or go to www.gmarketing.com or visit the marketing section of one of our sites such as: www.webresourceshop.com to learn more. Below I have described 5 lessor discussed strategies that will help bring awareness to your product or services using the Web that will only cost you your time.
1) Google Base This is a beta release of Google’s classified ad system. They will host the ad and bring back search results to potential visitors of your site. The cost to you is only a few minutes of your time, knowing Google the potential will grow with time. To place a classified ad with Google Base go to: http://base.google.com/base/default
2) Google Video This is also a beta release from Google. Basically the application allows anyone to upload video and Google then adds the video to their video search engine. There are no restrictions on the size or content of the video except that it cannot be pornographic. You can add meta data to the video and include a link to your Website. Consider creating a promotional flash or Powerpoint demonstration of your product or services and uploading it to Google Video. To view Google Video go to: http://video.google.com/ or to learn more about uploading your video go to: https://upload.video.google.com/.
One inexpensive flash creation product is ScreenFlash ( www.unflash.com ). You can download a 30 day trial version and create your video with no cost other than your time.
3) Forums and Google Groups II In a way this is an oldie but a goodie. Go to forums and groups that discuss topics surrounding your business and offer advice. It is important to make sure that your advice is valuable and you are not just responding to get your url in the post. People will get to know you as the expert and will click through to your site. At the end of the post include your name and Website address.
4) Free Press Release Press releases are nothing new but free press releases on the Web are something to consider. I have submitted several Press Releases at PRWeb.com, their url is: www.prweb.com. Each time the release results in a phone call from a prospect. You can pay as little as nothing to as much as you want for this service.
5) Add a Blog to your site Blogs are all the rage these days. It seems that everyone has a blog. The benefit to you adding a blog to your site is that you can offer tidbits of useful information back to your audience, include adsense ads (small additional revanue) and improve your search engine listings. I use blogger. To open a free Google Blogger account go to www.blogger.com.
While these guerilla marketing strategies might not launch your business into the stratosphere they are sure to help give you a marketing edge. The cost to you is only your time.
